Artie is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever hope to meet. Which is pretty
miraculous because given the state of his coat and a number of untreated open wounds,
it is clear that Artie had not experienced anything near the tender loving care that he is now getting from
shelter staff and volunteers. Yesterday, one of his biggest volunteer fans gave him what was probably his
first bath and then took him out into the warm sun to brush all the dead hair from (what is now) his beautiful thick black coat.
Artie will sidle up next to you, rubbing his head into your legs in a gesture of gratitude for the care he is now getting and
the company he is having the chance to enjoy. It is an endearing gesture, and if you lean in real close, you will even hear
him talking to you in a voice that sounds like a loud purr from a cat. Artie has deep pools of brown eyes that speak volumes
of a past we are trying to help him forget. To watch him frolic in the play area with a Kong like a pup warms a volunteers's heart.
For Artie, we want nothing but a lifetime that includes heartfuls of love, a plethora of soft pillows and blankets,
and plenty of toys to entertain his "inner puppy." : )
