Note: Carlos needs out of the animal shelter now. He has a sensitive soul and he's not kenneling well. He will be PTD unless
we can find a foster or forever home soon. Please help if you can.
Our hearts go out to Carlos. He was left in the shelter's night kennel and was clearly shocked by his noisy new surroundings.
Out on his first walk he moved cautiously down the street and would stop by parked
cars as though he wanted to jump in and leave his current situation. However, with some gentle coaxing and
encouragement, Carlos made his way to the nearby park for some sniffing and exploration.
Carlos was particularly entranced by the water in the park's lake, no doubt due to his Labrador heritage.
We're pleased to say that due to lots of love and attention from volunteers that
Carlos has adjusted somewhat to shelter life. Because he is easy to handle out in the
park he gets walked more than most shelter dogs. Carlos is somewhat overweight but has
already lost some weight due to his increased physical acitivity. Volunteers who appreciate
his calm demeanor outside the kennel enjoy strolling with him as he walks well on-leash. He
will happily trot a bit with you too if you're so inclined. Carlos also loves to sit in the shade under a
tree and receive bellyrubs and words of comfort. Such a refined pooch! It's also worth nothing that Carlos
has an unusually sleek and glossy black coat.
It's quite eye-catching!
Carlos has been introduced to several shelter dogs and done fine. However, Carlos
seems most interested in his human companions and will likely bond closely to someone who will give this dear
sensitive boy a chance at a new life. He could make someone a great lifelong companion.
